ABOUT ME

WukongDecorativeDot_edited.png

Hello there, reader!

My name is Fredrik Westerlund and I'm a level design student at The Game Assembly in Stockholm and is currently a Level Artist intern at Fatshark.

I grew up with three older brothers whose main passions were video games, so my early days were spent watching them play a variety of games, and not long after, I had joined their lifestyle. When we grew up we played games such as Mortal Kombat, Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft.

Even today, I enjoy fighting, strategy, and MMORPG games, especially those in the fantasy genre. Due to my long and busy school days, I play games that don't require a lot of investment, such as Hearthstone and Overwatch and whenever I'm more free I always end up with my favorite games, World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV.

With all of these games in mind, I've always wondered what it's like to work on a professional level with games you adore. I began working with Unreal Engine after finishing upper secondary school and have been developing levels and beautiful scenarios using Maya alongside it.

I applied to The Game Assembly because I wanted to learn more than just how to make beautiful worlds, I also wanted to learn how to make amazing gameplay.
During my time at school, I have gone from being unfamiliar with scripting to totally adoring it, which is why my main portfolio piece is focused on both environment and scripting.

I'm a hard worker who has big hopes and aspirations and never gives up on them.
Every day, I get one step closer to my goals, and I'm excited to see where it will take me.
